FROM THE STATION OF THE EXALTED
RULER
|
|
Dear Members:
Our Ritual team is competing
in the District RitualContest being held in Prescott on January
27th and 28th. I will announce the
results at our first meeting
in February. |
|
The first Lodge meeting in
February is the nomination of Officers
for 2012-2013. If anyone is interested
in becoming an Officer, please let the
Leading Knight know as soon as possible. The
second meeting in February is the election of
Officers, so come out and vote.
On February 11th there will
be a special initiation of new
candidates at 2:00 p.m. This special initiation
is for some new members that are unable to make
the Thursday meetings. Please come out and
show our new members that we care.
Also on February 11th Herm
and Marilyn Holtz will once again be
hosting our annual Sweetheart Ball.
You don’t want to miss out on Herm's famous ham
dinner. Come out and enjoy the dinner and dance
to the music of Junction 87.
We invite all of our members
and their guests to come to the party
on February 25th to celebrate those
who have birthdays in January and February.
There will be a pot luck dinner, and Jimmy and
Corey Johnson have hired the John Scott band for
this event.
God
Bless our Troops, God Bless American & God Bless all of
you.

STATION OF THE ESTEEMED LEADING KNIGHT
|
|
Hello Members:
I would
like to thank Jimmy Johnson and Lee
Schwein for hanging our new Elk head in the
entrance to the Lodge. It looks great! I would
also like to thank Richard and
Cheryl Hull for all of your hard work
in the Lodge. Thank you Cheyenne Riley
for pitching in with the dishes when
needed. |
|
We are
getting ready to initiate several new
members. Would you believe 14 to 16 new
members will be joining us this month? We
are gaining members every
month. Please make them feel welcome.
It is
getting to be that time to nominate new
Officers for next year. We will be starting at
the first meeting this month. The installation of
new Officers will be on March 31st. We will
have a band and dinner. More information to
come.
Congratulations Kim Riley for Elk of the month
for January. Your hard work is very much
appreciated.
Thought
for the month:
“We are
not Human Beings having a spiritual
experience – we are Spiritual Beings having a
human experience.” - Teilhard
Chardan
Until
next month,
Sincerely,

MESSAGE TO NEW MEMBERS
Congratulations on your initiation into the
Elks, and welcome to Payson Lodge #2154. I'm sure you are enjoying
being a member of this Lodge and will make many new friends.
When you became a member of this Lodge, we
donated $10.00 in your name to the Elks National Foundation. You are
not expected to repay this money, and any future donations on your part are
strictly voluntary. The Lodge took this action to acquaint you with
the Foundation and to encourage you to continue to help the Foundation in
future years.
Three outstanding qualities of the Foundation
are that it is a permanent fund, the fund is raised by voluntary gifts and
without compulsion of any kind and that the entire income from the fund is
available for charitable purposes.
The ENF supports Drug Awareness programs, Most
Valuable Student scholarship competitions, the Elks National Home, Veterans
Hospitals, Vocational Grant programs, the Hoop Shoot, and many other
extremely important charities.
Elks are encouraged to contribute $10.00 a
year, for a total of $100.00 in ten years. One may donate at a faster
rate, if so desired. We ask you to fill out a pledge card at your
convenience.
If you have any
questions, or need more information, please give us a call at (928) 474-2572.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
BECOME AN ELKS ...

|
THE SUCCESS OF
ELKDOM IS DUE TO ITS VOLUNTEERS
As you know, volunteers
are the life’s blood of your Lodge. Without volunteers,
we can’t run our Friday Night Dinners, organize and put
on special events, parties, and fundraisers, like the
annual Craft Fair, Yard Sale, Community Thanksgiving
Dinner, Children’s Christmas Shopping Spree, and many
other projects that benefit our children, our veterans,
our community, and our Lodge. Right now, Friday Night
Dinner is the most critical.
With the disbanding of
the HOPES, we are losing a number of volunteers.
We are now in a critical situation, and
desperately need more of our members, and their family
members, to step up and help.
We know some of you new
members have been called to see if you can help, and no
one got back to you. That’s because we don’t have
volunteers to call you back! If there is anything on
this page (or elsewhere in the Bulletin) that you can do
for your Lodge, please don’t hesitate to call Ev Griffin
at the Lodge, or stop in to discuss
how you can help. |
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
|
WAITERS & WAITRESSES:

Long hours, no pay, but
just loads of fun!
We need a part-time waitress or
waiter to serve lunches Monday through
Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The right person will work for food, fun,
and to meet new friends.
Please see Bob Troutman at the Lodge
between 9:00 and 10:30 a.m.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
COOKS:
Can you cook hamburgers?
Hot dogs? How are you with French
Fries and Onion Rings?
We are looking for volunteers to help
cook on Sundays, Wednesday evenings,
and some Saturday afternoons. Training
provided.
If you can help out once or twice a
month,
contact Kim at 468-8249. |
MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED:
 |
The
volunteer sign-up sheets are now on the official notices board
across the hall from the entrance to the lounge. We need 9
people on Friday Nights, and 3 on Sundays:
|
FRIDAY NIGHTS:
Cook (1)
Cook's Helpers (2)
Servers (2)
|
Cashier (1)
Bring Dessert (2)
Sell Dessert (1) |
|
|
Can you please help our Lodge?
Even one
night a month would be a great help! |
|
FRIDAY NIGHT COOK CREW
JOB DESCRIPTIONS
-
The Cook is responsible for making the
gravies and mashed potatoes – boiling a pot of water and
stirring in the mixes – heating a vegetable, putting the
pans of chicken, baked fish, etc. in the oven and starting
them to cook, putting all entrees in the steam table when
ready. The cook also runs the deep fryer – placing the
pieces of fish, shrimp, fries etc. in the fryer and removing
them when done.
-
The Dish-Up Person looks at the order and
dips up the foods to fill that order – a baked potato, piece
of bread, veggie, fish, or other items – and then places it
in the window for the waitress.
-
The Back-Up Person helps cut up the bread,
works the ovens getting the baked chicken, fish or ribs and
putting them on a plate; refills the steam table when
potatoes, etc. get low, and is the "gofer" when items are
needed.
One or
more of these three individuals also mixes up the coleslaw and
salad and dishes it up into cups or bowls. |
